Growing up in Nanaimo has been a blessing for us. The strength of this community is unrivaled. During our time in school, our parents worked hard to ensure our health and safety, however, we noticed some families weren’t as fortunate. We continue to see some families struggle, and we knew we had to do something. We couldn’t stand back and watch and hear stories of our community’s future leaders going without basics like food on the table.

We’ve had the idea of donating to a food program for years, and with the community coming together during the pandemic, it really pushed us to kick start the program. Doing our research, we found that the Nanaimo Ladysmith School Foundation was best to partner with. They provide hundreds of meals per week to children and families in need – it was a no-brainer to partner with them.

After talking with them, our team created a long-term plan to give back to our community. It was then that we developed the Tanks for Lunch program.

The Tanks for Lunch program works as follows: every water heater we install, a portion goes directly to the NLSF.

From this partnership, we aspire to make an effective difference in our community. Unfortunately, 1 in 5 students live in poverty, and we are striving to reduce that.
